Spectroscopy of low energy electrons
Creators
Description
Shortly reviewed are the methods of investigations of electron spectra in low energy range (Esub(e) < 100 keV) accompaning the decay of radioactive isotopes. Considered are the ways to avoid some methodical difficulties of low-energy electron spectroscopy (the increase of spectrometer aberrations, the influence of the preparation thickness, the complication of low-energy electron recording). As the examples of these spectra investigation presented are the lutetium isotope spectra (169Lu, 171Lu, 174Lu) obtained at the magnetic β-spectrometer of the π √ 2 type. The analysis of the spetra presented shows that at using the magnetic β spectrometer with 0.2-0.5% resolution it is possible to obtain important data both on internal conversion electron spectra, and on Auger electron spectra in the energy range of Esub(e) < 20 keV. The application of spectrometers with higher-resolution capability (prismatic electrostatic spectrometers) permit to increase the measuring accuracy of the electron spectra, and to widen sufficiently the circle of solving problems as well
