Magnetic moment and lifetime of the 127 keV state in 101Ru

Description
Using BaF2 scintillation counters and a source of 101RhFe we have determined the magnetic moment of the 127 keV first excited state of 101Ru, using time differential perturbed angular correlations. Via the known hyperfine field of Ru in Fe we deduce g = -0.138(5) and g = -0.142(5) for annealed and quenched sources, respectively, and obtain a new, accurate value of the half-life, T/sub 1/2/ = 0.655(4) nsec
