Standard solutions of carbon-14 and tritium in a liquid scintielator with different degree of quenching
Description
Stages of developing methods for certification and preparation for production of sets of tritium and carbon-14 standard radioactive solutions (SRS) in a liquid scintillator with a different degree of quenching are described. The first selecting a suitable scintillation system consisting of primary and secondary scintillations and a solvent. 2,5 diphenyloxazol was chosen as the primary scintillator. 1,4-di[2-(5-phenyloxazollyl)]-benzene(POPOP) was chosen as the secondary scintillator which ''shifts'' the wave length of primary photons to the region corresponding to the best response of photomultiplier tube. During the second stage of the work the activity of a substance labelled by the absolute method, and then SRS was prepared of this substance in a chosen scintillation system. Toluene labelled With the above radionuclides was taken as such substance. The work performed permitted to prepare and investigate experimental batches of carbon-14 and tritium SRS in a toluene scintillator with quenching and a SRS with set with a double tug (3H + 14C) without quenchina
