Nuclear excitation in atomic transitions (NEET process analysis)
Description
The paper is devoted to a detailed analysis of the process of nuclear excitation in atomic transitions. All calculations are carried out within the framework of QED. A comparison with experimental results on nuclear excitation in 189Os, 197Au and 237Np is made. The substantial difference between observed probabilities and theoretical estimates is revealed. The possibility of a direct experimental measurement of NEET probability is discussed. (orig.)
