Description
Recently a 'Priority Thermal-electric program consisting the installation of a large number (39 units) of Thermal Plants based mainly on Natural Gas, was presented by the Government. The objective of this power program is to complement the electric generation capacity. It is time to review the Brazilian energy question and present some natural and potential options. An appraisal of the energy situation showing the importance of renewable Energy and the potential of a multi-purpose MSR program based on Thorium and offering very safe reactor and cycle conditions, as well as flexibility, is presented in this paper.
