Description
SCK.CEN has the ambition to design, build and operate an experimental accelerator driven subcritical system (XT-ADS). With the liquid metal spallation target being one of its main components. SCK.CEN decided to join the MEGAPIE project., which aims to design and operate a first-of-a-kind megawatt liquid Pb-Bi spallation target. This paper compares the MEGAPIE and XT-ADS target, highlighting the common use of liquid Pb-Ri technology. An overview is also given of past and future scientific involvement of SCK.CEN in the MEGAPIE project. (author)
