Vibrational levels in the N4++H charge transfer system

  • 1. Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, MA (United States)

Description

The energies of bound vibrational levels supported by the attractive potential well in the interaction of a neutral hydrogen atom and a multiply charged nitrogen atom are calculated in the diabatic representation. Their rates of depopulation through predissociation to other ion-ion channels are evaluated and compared with the rate of spontaneous emission. (author)
