Investigation of inclusive production of the Δ(1232) nucleon isobar in e+e- annihilation
Description
Inclusive process e+e-→X is considered in general case, when there is no summation over the isobar polarization. The tensor describing the γ→ΔX vertex and containing ten structure functions is constructed. A method of experimental determination of these structure functions in order to test theoretical models is proposed. It is shown that basing on the study of angular distributions of the Δ→Nπ decay products one may find six structure functions, because the isobar polarization vector and its octupole polarization do not contribute to this decay. To determine other structure functions it is necessary to measure the nucleon longitudinal polarization in this decay, which is nonzero only in the case when one of initial leptons ahs a longitudinal polarization component
