Energy dependence of different beta radiation detectors

Description

The beta radiation secondary standard of the Calibration Laboratory of Sao Paulo was used for the energy dependence determination of the main radiation monitoring instruments. Calibrated S90R + 90Y, 204Tl and 147Pm sources constitute this secondary standard. Portable Geiger-Mueller type instruments, cylindrical ionization chambers, alarm pocket dosemeters, as well as parallel-plates ionization chambers, were studied in relation to beta radiation. The results were compared with those obtained with the extrapolation chamber (that is the reference instrument for beta radiation detection) and with thermoluminescent dosemeters of CaSO4: Dy. Abstract (Portuguese)
