A review of the available modelling of mixing in subcooled water
Description
In this paper we review the available models of melt/water mixing, for the situation where the water is subcooled. We present both simple analysis and experimental data to illustrate why water subcooling is important. We also examine the related issue of vapour superheating. We then present the conservation equations which describe this situation and the constitutive relations currently available. Finally, we draw some conclusions about the current state of knowledge in this area. (author)
