Molecular approach of uranyl/mineral surfaces: theoretical approach
- 1. Universite Paris 11, Institut de Physique Nucleaire, 91 - Orsay (France)
Description
As migration of radio-toxic elements through the geosphere is one of the processes which may affect the safety of a radioactive waste storage site, the author shows that numerical modelling is a support to experimental result exploitation, and allows the development of new interpretation and prediction codes. He shows that molecular modelling can be used to study processes of interaction between an actinide ion (notably a uranyl ion) and a mineral surface (a TiO2 substrate). He also reports the predictive theoretical study of the interaction between an uranyl ion and a gibbsite substrate
