Development of a new fission gas release and fuel swelling model
Creators
Description
The paper presented preliminary results of an exercise to investigate physical phenomena concerned in the fission gas release and swelling in irradiated LWR fuel. The processes considered included intragranular diffusion, trapping and re-solution along with similar processes taking place along grain boundaries. A parametric study has been performed in order to identify the key processes controlling the transport and release of fission gases and the predictions compared to two rods from IFA-5 19.9. It was concluded that further consideration should be made to the influence of grain boundary diffusion
