Decomposition of indium nitride by ion bombardment with the formation of indium tungstate

  • 1. Marquette Univ., Milwaukee, WI (USA)

Description

Bombardment by Kr (3 MeV) ions of a fine powder of InN on a W substrate results in decomposition to indium and to the formation of indium tungstate Insub(0.4) W03 or InW309. By contrast, bombardments at 150 keV results in the decomposition but no further reaction. The formation of Indium tungstate is considered an ion mixing reaction induced by the 3 MeV ions. The decomposition of the InN is not due to an ordinary heating effect. (author)
