The statistics of the distributions of galaxies, mass and peculiar velocities

Description

Assuming that mass clusters have an affinity for galaxies, and with the suitable adjustment of the mean mass density parameter, a galaxy peculiar velocity field character prediction which is reasonably consistent with observations is obtained. The assumption will, however, require that the mean mass density be less than the Einstein-de Sitter value. Is is nevertheless noted that the assumption's fitting with observations in such a direct and simple fashion invites further elaboration. 17 refs
