Development of fundamental technologies for 3-D imaging of target substance in soil
Description
Various pollutants existing in the soil, landmines, explosives, and cases of damage due to ground sinking have been steadily presented, and they are emerging as a social problem. However, although some technologies are used to detect such target materials existing in the soil, most of the existing technologies have limitations such as not guaranteeing the safety of detection personnel or poor detection performance. In this study, contaminants in the soil, mines & explosives, and ground sinking are assumed as target materials, and a radiation-based source technology that can nondestructively detect the target material is developed. More specifically, it includes a detection system based on neutron radiation analysis, a backscatter X-ray imaging system, and a demonstration through the establishment of an environment for detecting target substances in soil. The purpose of the detection system based on neutron emission analysis is to detect target substances existing at a distance (several meters) using a neutron generator and a high-energy instantaneous gamma ray measuring device, and is not affected by various strata structures It has the advantage of being able to detect target substances. In particular, we intend to overcome the limitations that existing technologies could not present through the development of an algorithm that can detect the three-dimensional position of a target material in the soil. The backscattering X-ray imaging system is a technology for detecting shallowly buried mines and explosives in the soil, and its main goal is to find buried mines of less than 30 cm with lethal power. For the development of this technology, we intend to make the task substantial by localizing all parts related to the generator, detector, imaging system, and control system. The two types of technologies developed in this way are intended to establish a soil environment in which the actual target material is buried and to prove the technology through empirical experiments. Through this technology development, We hope that the development of nuclear technology to reassure the people by securing source technology to solve the national difficulties that have not been solved before
