Comparative assessment of the ecological and health risk as a result of the electricity production from TPP and NPP
Creators

Description
The electric power production from a Thermoelectric Power Plant (coal) and from Nuclear Power Plant is accompanied by a certain adverse effect on the environment. This leads to ecological and health risk for the population living in neighbouring regions. A lot of measurements are performed and the obtained results are presented in details. The substitution of the electric power generated by the Kozloduy NPP, by the same amount generated by Maritsa-Iztok 1, 2, 3 TPP will lead to the following negative effects: increase of the health risk, due to a radiation impact by about 2.4 times and increase of the total health risk, due to a non-radiation and radiation impact by a factor of 2.
