The interface tension in hot QCD matter

  • 1. Helsinki Univ. (Finland). Research Inst. for Theoretical Physics

Description

The pure gauge QCD can exist in the colour confining temperature and non-confining high temperature phases. At the critical temperature Tc these two phases can coexist with an interface in between. We calculate the interface tension α associated with this interface by using a lattice Monte Carlo technique. On a N0 = 2 lattice with a spatial volume of 82x40 we obtain the result α/Tc3 = 0.24 ± 0.06, and the interface extends over ≅ 3 fm. For the case of N0 = 4 the results are still inconclusive. (orig.)
