Description

Mammography is the technique widely used in the early detection of breast cancer. Although there is no consensus, it is recommended that the age appropriate for the beginning of this radiological examination, either at 40 years of age. In order to analyze the dose of entry into the skin (DEP) on mammography devices, were evaluated in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Ijuí and surrounding areas) and in Rio de Janeiro (metropolitan area) 24 mammographic equipment. Among the 24 included in the study, only one had a DEP higher than the limit established by ANVISA. Higher levels were observed of mAs to reach DEP values close to the limit, in mammographs in the Municipality of Ijuí and surroundings.
