Variations in dislocation density and mechanical properties of α-iron in dependence on deformation of temperature

Description

Investigated is the development of the dislocation structure and of the mechanical characteristics in the process of iron deformation (99.91) wt.%) in the temperature range from 0.16 to 0.60 Tsub(melt.). The variation of the dislocation structure was determined through the changes in density of excessive dislocations, which was calculated on the basis of the data on the grain substructure disorientation. It is shown that the density of excessive dislocations is proportional to the total density of dislocations in iron, the proportionality constant being equal to 0.01. It is shown that in the temperature range from 0.16 to 0.30 Tsub(melt.) the interstitials influence sUfficiently on the variations in α-iron dislocation strUcture. The flow stress/dislocation density ratio in α iron is expressed by the formula σ = σsub(0) + αGB√p at all investigated deformation temperatures from 0.16 to 0.60 Tsub(melt.)
