Radiosensitization of thymine by copper(II) complexes of aminopolycarboxylic acids (Preprint No. RC-13)

Description
Aqueous solutions of thymine (U-CH3) in the presence of Cu(II) NTA and Cu(II) IDA were irradiated with 60Co γ-rays under different conditions and the radiolytic products were separated by HPLC. The presence of the Cu(II) complexes during irradiation increased the degradation of thymine both in argon and N2O saturated solutions. The possible mechanism of sensitization of thymine and that of the product formation have been discussed. (author)
