Sorting of bio-wastes at the source and methanization: facing the challenge with French cities. Local solutions handbook

Description

In its first part, this publication addresses bio-waste sorting at the source, an issue which will soon concern everybody. It evokes: proximity composting (with a close management by inhabitants), a separated collection to valorise bio-wastes, the interesting costs of these practices, method and good practices to develop inhabitant awareness, keys for a successful sorting at the source. The example of transformation of wastes into green gas in Fontainebleau is briefly presented. The second part addresses methanization: a way to valorise one's bio-wastes, an asset for the future of the territory, the case of hybrid methanization (bio-wastes and agricultural wastes), the 100 pc circular characteristic of methanization, the role of local communities, an interview of the mayor of Laon, the different possible legal arrangements, the development of a territorial energy strategy
