Poor dose data hamper study of cleanup workers

Description
This article describes initiation of studies on the 800,000 liquidators, or cleanup operations personnel at Chernobyl. Virtually all were exposed to does well above those received by the general population. As a result they represent a unique resource for understanding the effects of radiation. They were exposed to a wide range of does, over different time scales, and by a variety of pathways, providing both an excellent study population and great difficulties in estimates of radiation doses and unreliable reporting
