Proton lifetime
Description
This paper points out that the minimal SU(5) model predicted value of proton lifetime (τp) falls far short of the experimental hints for the same mainly because of an unrealistic assumption made in the theoretical estimates for τp. Furthermore, it has been argued that this model is neither ruled out nor even disreputed despite the so far non-observation of proton decay for the reason discussed in this paper
