Relation between temperature coefficient of surface tension and fusion entropy
Description
A new model for calculating temperature coefficient of surface tension (TKST) of single-component liquids is suggested. The surface liquid layer is considered as elastic film, that is as solid phase. It enables to conclude, that surface entropy of liquid, which is equal to TKST, is proportional to melting entropy of the given substance. Calculations of TKST for different metals in approximation of monolayer structure of the surface layer were conducted and equation was derived. Calculations correspond satisfactorily with experimental data for many metals (especially for alkali ones)
