α-, β-, γ-spectrometric investigations of graphite samples of the thermal column I at FRJ-1. Analysis report
Description
In connection with demolition activities at FRJ-1, MERLIN, the thermal columns were also dismantled. These columns are made of graphite bricks which had been intensively irradiated with neutrons during the service life of the reactor. The graphite samples obtained were first examined by γ-spectrometry. The samples were then completely incinerated in order to determine their 3H and 14C content. 55Fe, α -total and β/γ-total were analysed in the combustion residue. In parallel, a chemical analysis of the residue was performed with the aid of ICP-MS. The results of the analysis are an integral part of this report. (orig.)

Im Zusammenhang mit den Rueckbauarbeiten am FRJ-1, MERLIN, wurden auch die Thermischen Saeulen demontiert. Diese Saeulen bestehen aus Graphitsteinen, die waehrend der Betriebszeit des Reaktors intensiv mit Neutronen bestrahlt worden sind. Die erhaltenen Graphitproben wurden zunaechst γ-spektrometrisch vermessen. Anschliessend wurde eine vollstaendige Verbrennung der Proben durchgefuehrt, um den 3H und 14C-Gehalt der Proben zu bestimmen. Im Verbrennungsrueckstand wurde 55Fe, α-Gesamt und β/γ-Gesamt analysiert. Parallel wurde eine chemische Analyse des Rueckstandes mit Hilfe der ICP-MS durchgefuehrt.
