Phase equilibria in the silver-terbium system

Description

The Ag-Tb system has been studied by thermal differential analysis, chemical analysis, X-ray and metallographic examinations. The following intermediate phases were observed: Ag51Tb14 (m.p. 985 +- 100C), Ag2Tb (m.p. 915 +- 100C) and AgTb (m.p. 1145 +- 100C). Four eutectics occur: Ag - Ag51Tb14 (805 +- 50C; 11.0 +- 0.5 at.-% Tb), Ag51Tb14 - Ag2Tb (885 +- 100C; 31.5 +- 0.5 at.-% Tb), Ag2Tb - AgTb (900 +- 50C; 35.0 +- 0.5 at.-% Tb) and AgTb - Tb (860 +- 50C; 75.0 +- 1 at.-% Tb). The results are briefly discussed and compared with those of other Ag - R.E. systems. (orig.)

Das System Silber-Terbium ist mit Differentialthermoanalyse, chemisch, roentgenographisch und mit metallographischen Analysen untersucht worden. Die folgenden Phasen wurden beobachtet. Ag51Tb14 (Schmelzpunkt 985 +- 100C), Ag2Tb (Schmelzpunkt 915 +- 100C) und AgTb (Schmelzpunkt 1145 +- 100C). Vier Eutektika treten auf: Ag - Ag51Tb14 (805 +- 50C; 11,0 +- 0,5 At.-% Tb), Ag51Tb14 - Ag2Tb (885 +- 100C; 31,5 +- 0,5 At.-% Tb), Ag2Tb - AgTb (900 +- 50C; 35,0 +- 0,5 At.-% Tb) und AgTb - Tb (860 +- 50C; 75,0 +- 1 At.-% Tb). Die Ergebnisse werden im Vergleich zu frueher bekannten Systemen der Seltenen Erden mit Silber besprochen. (orig.)
