A three-dimensional dose-distribution estimation system using computerized image reconstruction
Description
The authors exposed x-ray film in a phantom using a linear accelerator unit. The degree of film density was digitized with a charged coupled device (CCD) camera and a minicomputer (VAX 11-750). Three-dimensional (3D) dose distribution images were then constructed. The 3D dose distribution image accurately depicted density changes caused by insertion of bone or air into the phantom. The author's technique is simple and quickly yields dose distribution images. In comparison with the conventional method, the new technique is highly effective
