General solutions of the U(3) and U(4) chiral σ models in two dimensions

Description
We present an explicit form of all finite action classical solutions of the two-dimensional euclidean U(3) and U(4) chiral models. We base our construction on a theorem recently proved by Uhlenbeck in which she showed that all such solutions can be written as products of various 'uniton' factors. We briefly comment on the structure and properties of these solutions. (orig.)
