Lifetime measurement of the 21+ state in 152Nd and the B(E2;01+→21+) systematics of the A∼160 region

Description

A half-life of T1/2=4.45(26) ns was measured for the 72.4-keV 21+ state in 152Nd using a β-γ-γ delayed coincidence technique. This result supersedes the half-life of T1/2=7.7(20) ns that was tentatively measured for 154Nd and adopted for 152Nd in the recent compilation of the B(E2) rates. In contrast to the latter value, the new result follows the smooth systematics of the B(E2) rates in the A∼160 region thus negating the possibility of an abrupt structural change in the even neutron-rich Nd nuclei
