Production process for powdery uranium-containing compound

Description

A starting material as an object of heat treatment is urania/gadolinia oxide (U, Gd)O2 which include molding products of oxides represented by UO2 or (U, Gd)O2 (for example, pellets or lumps are contained). The molded dioxides are applied with heat treatment in a CO2 containing gas in a state as they are or in a state pulverized or classified to some extent, by which UO2 or (U, Gd)O2 is oxidized to form powdery U3O8 or (U, Gd)3O8. In addition, powderization is extremely promoted by conducting the treatment in a CO2 gas-containing atmosphere, to provide satisfactory powderization. (T.M.)
