Description
The objective of this study is to assess technical, organisational and economic implications a highly renewable energy mix would have on non-interconnected territories by 2030, in order to open new perspectives for the Multi-annual energy programming (PPE). It shows that a 100 per cent renewable energy mix is possible on the Reunion Island while facing electric power demand at any moment with a significant use of energy storage means, and outlines the importance of a multi-sector work of energy management (notably in relationship with the conversion of all vehicles in electric vehicles), the associated reduction of the use of Diesel plants from 2025, the integration of new decentralised energy production means, a decrease for the energy cost with the implementation of a high rate of renewable energies, and that such a system could remain steady when facing significant incidents. Thus, the report presents the context, the project general methodology, the modelling and prediction of energy demand, an assessment of potentials for the different renewable energies, a modelling and optimization of the electric power system, the elaboration of prospective scenarios, technical results of optimizations for the different scenarios, static and dynamic study of the operation of power systems, an economic analysis, and a study of installation profitability and a quantitative analysis of the evolution of exploitation rules.
