Description

Main principles are presented of the technique of selecting areas Earth's crust for disposing of high-level radioactive waste (HLRW). The technique is based on the three following principles: assessment and selection of long-term sites in the Earth's crust; prediction of the instability risk in the geological medium and of unfavorable changes in its properties, conditions and geodynamic processes in the selected areas; prediction of the changes of the natural isolation properties of a rock massif when constructing and exploiting radioactive waste repositories
