Description
This completely revised, second edition of the standard textbook has been considerably enlarged to cover the enormous progress made in the field of diagnostics and treatment of bone tumors and lesions. Based on the revised WHO classification system of 1994, benign and malignant bone tumors are described in depth by ample, excellent illustrations and comprehensive textual information. The information encompasses all important aspects such as frequency of incidence, localisation, age and sex-related predilection, clinical symptoms, therapy and prognoses, diagnostic radiology, and the histology of benign and malignant processes. The new chapters present for instance pseudotumors and tumors of the jaws, and focus on the recent diagnostic methods based on molecular biology and immunobiology, CT-guided biopsy, as well as magnetic resonance imaging techniques. The book will be welcome by radiologists, orthopedists and orthopedic surgeons, oncologists and pathologists as a source of information and guidance assisting them in their daily work. (orig./CB)
