The width of the scattering resonance and the electrical transport properties in partially filled d-band transition metals

Description

The width of the scattering resonance and the electrical transport properties in partially filled d-band liquid transition metals as Fe, Ni, Pd, Co, Ti, V, W, Mo, and Cr is investigated theoretically using Ziman's formulation extended to liquid transition metals where d-electrons are treated as resonance states scattered by muffin-tin potentials in the conduction band. The width of the scattering resonance (GAMMA) suggests in transition metals to be a rather universal function of valency. The present formalismas for GAMMA gives excellent agreement in resistivity for most of the partially filled d-band transition metals
