Description
The phase diagram of the Dy-Ni-Sn ternary system was constructed at 870 K (0-50 at.% Sn) and 770 K (more than 50 at.% Sn) using X-ray analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The interaction of the elements results the formation of 11 ternary compounds-Dy6Ni2Sn (Ho6Co2Ga-type), DyNi5Sn (CeCu4.38In1.62-type), DyNiSn2 (LuNiSn2-type), DyNiSn (TiNiSi-type), Dy2Ni2Sn (W2CoB2-type), DyNiSn4 (LuNiSn4-type), DyNi3Sn2 (HoGa2.4Ni2.6-type), Dy2Ni7Sn3 (own structure type), DyNi2-xSn (YbNi2-xSn-type), Dy3Ni4Sn6 (Ce3Pd4Sn6-type), and Dy4Ni12Sn25 (Ce4Pt12Sn25-type). The formation of Dy2NiSn6 compound with Lu2NiSn6 type structure was found at 670 K. The crystal chemistry analysis of ternary compounds formed in the Dy-Ni-Sn system was done.
