Pressure-composition-temperature studies on Pd0.9Cu0.1-H2/D2 systems
- 1. Product Development Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Binary and ternary alloys based on palladium have been used worldwide for the purification and separation of hydrogen isotopes. Large isotope effect of hydrogen on these alloys makes this material highly favourable for the above purpose. Evaluation of thermo-physical properties of these materials are of prime importance for the development of separation and purification systems. In this study, hydrogen/deuterium (H2/D2) desorption pressure-composition isotherms (PCI) for Pd0.9Cu0.1 alloy have been generated by using a Sievert's type volumetric apparatus in the temperature range of 303 K to 333 K with a step of 10 K. van't Hoff plot was constructed by using equilibrium pressure data from which thermodynamic parameters were generated
