Description

Methods commonly used for detecting and measuring cosmic radiation are outlined. The space-time variations in the intensity of cosmic radiation registered near the Earth are discussed in detail. Ideas about sources and acceleration mechanisms of high-energy particles are presented, considering especially the solar system. Finally, the author puts forward hypotheses with regard to the role which cosmic radiation might have played in the development of terrestrial life.
