Some experience on construction and test operation of the very low level radioactive liquid waste evaporator

An autovaper evaporation system has been designed and constructed for further decontamination of distillates from low and medium level waste concentrators of the fuel reprocessing facility before sea disposal of the treated waste. The system distills the effluents from the above systems in a natural vertical circulation type evaporator with capacity of 4.5 m3/h manufactured of special low carbon stainless steel under severe quality control. The system has shown good performances in the cold test operation compared with the predicted capabilities including a newly developed and designed steam compressor for saving primary heating steam.
