The partitioning of Austenite grains during the martensite transformation

Description

The adequacy of the partitioning models proposed by Fischer, Hollomon and Turnbull and by McMurtrie and Magee was examined on the basis of the microstructural changes associated with the martensite transformation in Fe-31.9%Ni-0.02%C. The results suggest that the inadequacy of the models studied is related to the autocatalytic nature of the reaction. (Author)

Analisa-se a adequabilidade dos modelos de compartimentacao propostos por Fisher, Hollomon e Turnbull e por McMurtrie e Magee, tomando por base a evolucao microestrutural associada a transformacao martensitica atermica em Fe-31,9%Ni-0,02%C. Os resultados sugerem que a inadequabilidade dos modelos estudados esta relacionada a natureza autocatalitica da reacao. (Autor)
