Influence of particle size on superparamagnetic relaxation of MnFe2O4 particles in ferrofluids
Description
Dried water-based ionic ferrofluid powder samples containing MnFe2O4 spinel ferrite nanoparticles with average particle size of about 6 and 9 nm have been studied by Moessbauer spectroscopy and DC magnetization measurements. The Moessbauer blocking temperature of the 6 nm sample was 290 K and that of the 9 nm sample 340 K. From DC magnetization measurements 'magnetic' diameters of 5.2 and 8 nm and a Ms of 41 and 48 emu/g were found for the two samples, respectively
