Atomic exchange energy as a density functional
Description
We give a local expression for the exchange potential and for the exchange energy in terms of the electron density and its gradients. The assumption that the logarithmic derivative of the density varies very slowly with the distance from the nucleus turns out to be surprisingly good in the evaluation of the exchange energy. (orig.)
