Thromboscintigraphy with 99Tcsup(m)-plasmin: a new diagnostic method in deep venous thrombosis of the legs
Description
In a preliminary study of 15 patients, results for thromboscintigraphy with 99Tcsup(m)-plasmin are compared with those obtained by conventional X-ray venography in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis of the legs. Thromboscintigraphy is quickly performed, noninvasive and not associated with the discomfort normally experienced with X-ray venography. The diagnostic sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 90% indicated that thromboscintigraphy with 99Tcsup(m)-plasmin might be a possible alternative to X-ray venography in the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis.
