Structural and thermal icy satellite models - preliminary results

Description

The satellites of the outer solar system appear to be composed principally of water ice and silicates, with the presence of ammonia and methane hydrates. A structural model of any icy satellite can be produced by assuming that hydrostatic equilibrium occurs. These structural models were thermally evolved through 4.5 Gy. Mechanisms for the creation of the observed dark leading face of Iapetus are discussed
