Welding stresses

Description

The aim is to show how internal stresses are generated and to fix the orders of magnitude. A realistic case, the vertical welding of thick plates free to move one against the other, is described and the deformations and stresses are analyzed. The mathematical model UEDA, which accounts for the elastic modulus, the yield strength and the expansion coefficient of the metal with temperature, is presented. The hypotheses and results given apply only to the instantaneous welding of a welded plate and to a plate welded by a moving electrode

Abstract (French)

On se propose de montrer comment les contraintes internes sont generees et d'en fixer les ordres de grandeur. On decrit un cas proche de la realite constitue par le soudage vertical de plaques epaisses libres de se deplacer l'une par rapport a l'autre. On analyse les deformations et les contraintes. On presente le modele mathematique UEDA qui tient compte du changement de module d'elasticite, de la limite d'elasticite et du coefficient de dilatation du metal en fonction de la temperature. On se limite a en donner les hypotheses et les resultats dans le cas du soudage instantane d'une plaque soudee et dans celui d'une plaque soudee par une electrode en mouvement
