Theory of Nuclear Reactions with RIBs

  • 1. Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Sez. di Pisa Largo Pontecorvo 3, 56127 Pisa (Italy)

Description

This is a review of the basic formalism for the high energy scattering and the eikonal approximation and of some of the methods to obtain the optical potentials necessary in breakup calculations. We make also the connection to the surface imaginary part of the optical potential for halo and weakly bound nuclei. Semiclassical reductions of the DWBA approximation for inclusive and exclusive breakup are then presented. Methods to study resonances at threshold in unbound nuclei and the relation to R-matrix theory are finally introduced.
