Description
A sum-rule is presented whereby absolute information from charge density differences of 206Pb and 205Tl is combined with relative spectroscopic factors for pick-up from 205Tl, 206Pb and 208Pb to give the occupancy of the 3s1/2 proton orbital in 208Pb. For its application the 205Tl(d, 3He) reaction at 52 MeV has been measured and a largely model-independent value has been obtained for the occupation probability of 0.9±0.2. (orig.)
