Description
Electro-membrane sorption for decontamination of liquid radioactive waste (LRW) from radiochemical plants has been studied. The technique comprises three processes: electro-dialytic desalination, electro-osmotic concentration and selective sorption. The efficient decontamination from radionuclides and chemical toxic substances to sanitary standards can be achieved by the sequence of operation. This allows to minimize operating expenses. The treatment of LRW with a total beta-activity of 5.10-6 Ci/l and a total LRW with a total salt content of 1,0 g/l is described. Secondary waste with a salt content of 200-250 g/l and spent sorbents are cemented. (authors)
