Investigation into oxidation kinetics for Ta-Ti alloys
Creators
Description
Kinetics and products of tantalum oxidation process in Ta-Ti alloys containing 0, 5, 10, 20 and 30 mass.%Ti have been studied in the 800-900 deg C range for 100 h. Oxygen diffusion to the metal depth is shown to be the factor controlling the process of high-temperature oxidation of Ta-Ti alloys. It is established, that tantalum alloying with titanium results in a considerable increase in its heat resistance, which is caused by the formation of rutile structure oxides on the alloy surface
