Ontario Hydro takes first step to return Pickering A to service

Creators

Description

In January 1995, Ontario Hydro had taken the first step to return Pickering-2 and the rest of the A Station to service, by filing a report of the root cause of the loss of coolant incident with the AECB. The event began with the failure of a diaphragm in a heat transfer system overpressure relief valve, but this was compounded by damage caused by vibration produced by chattering of an incorrectly positioned and designed bleed condenser relief valve. A new configuration for the bleed condenser is proposed, and also replacement of copper air lines by stainless steel. 2 figs
