Effect of melting conditions in the induction furnace of nickel-chromium alloy on physical properties of cast metal: the rate of ultrasound propagation; specific electric resistance; magnetic susceptibility, as well as lattice parameters and dislocation density, has been studied. It is shown that heat treatment of the melt affects considerably the properties of solid cast metal, which is manifested in particular in the levelling of physical properties over ingot cross section and in the change of the value to the one, corresponding to deformed metal. Cast metal of experimental meltings, as compared with conventional ones, is characterized by stronger interatomic bonds and also by lower concentration of current carriers. Heat treatment promotes the improvement of service characteristics of nichrome and, in particular, the increase in its specific resistance and ductility
